A word from the Men's Captain

Hello all and Welcome,

It was "The" proudest moment of my life when I was asked to be Men's Captain.

As with Captain’s past, the enormity of the task ahead is at best daunting and down-right scary but with our fantastic and very friendly members and visitors, the support from the boys in the Pro Shop and Hotel staff, life as Captain is settling in rather well.

In the recent past the weather has been shocking. Despite this our very hard working Greens staff led by Laurence have, as always, presented the course in an unbelievably fantastic condition. The course has always been a great challenge to golfers of all standards, a course treated with respect and it just may offer you a respectable score.

As per tradition, after every round we all return to the safety of the Club house to reminisce on the round we’ve just had. I can promise that I will be there to share those stories with all of you, celebrate your success and commiserate your unsatisfactory round. Regardless to previous endeavours, we all return to our familiar stomping ground during the year to be tamed by our wonderful course.

This year, our chosen charity is for the Children of Bardwell School, a school for children with special needs and learning difficulties. With your help we aim to raise as much as we can to help purchase of learning equipment and software, to the ultimate dream of the children being able to organise and travel to Barcelona on a field trip. Every contribution will help with a better lifestyle for the children.

On a personal note, I wish you all an eventful and memorable year of Golf and fun. There are plenty of competitions for all to have a good chance of silverware.

Remember if you miss the green on the 18th and land in the water, please donate 50p into the Captains Charity Bottle placed on the Sports Bar.

A word from the Lady Captain

I extend a warm welcome to all members, what an honour to be Lady Captain of such a fabulous Golf Club.

I have a lot to live up to as we have had the privilege of many wonderful Lady Captains in the past, I am hoping for a successful year in our Club Matches and all other events that will take place this season.

We have some outstanding golfers in our section, and I would like to wish them all every success. Our jointly chosen Captain’s Charity is Bardwell School, supporting pupils with complex or profound learning difficulties. I am planning a Tandem Skydive to raise money for the school, and will be on your tails for sponsorship!!

We welcome all new members and I will endeavour to meet as many as possible, either on the course, or in the relaxed atmosphere of our sports bar.
