Our Family Fun Day and Teddy Bears Picnic on Sunday 21st August 2016 was a great success raising £452.76 for Helen & Douglas House. A big thank you to all who came along to support the event and to all the volunteers and stall holders.
Donation reference: 913538
Thank you so much for your kind donation of £452.76. raised at your Family Fun Day and Teddy Bears Picnic on 21st August. We found a bit more change in one of the collection boxes which has been added to the total I gave you just after the event. I attach a thank you certificate to go up on your noticeboards. Please pass on my thanks to all the staff who worked so hard to make this such a great fundraiser. Your gift will help make a difference to the short lives of very sick children and young adults, as well as to their families. Without donations like yours the work we do supporting these families simply would not be possible.
This includes families like Dylan’s. Dylan is 7 and has a neuromuscular disease and has been coming to Helen House for a couple of years.
Annabelle, Dylan’s mum, says that ‘Dylan is relaxed and creating good memories at Helen House. Instantly he was comfortable to go with staff, yet at home he wouldn’t dream of being without me. The fact that everything is accessible for him is great. All needs are catered for and even at seven-years-old he instinctively knows that it gives him freedom but safely.’
‘Dylan uses the playroom and gardens. He adores playing and water fights! His favourite things are to have a spa and music therapy. They are on top of his list and they help him express himself. He even made an original song for me recently; it was impressive. The spa is great for him to do hydro-exercise. It is such fun he doesn’t realise that it is exercise, not just play time.’
It costs £5 million every year to run Helen & Douglas House, and 88p in every £1 needs to be raised from voluntary donations. Because of this we can only continue to support and care for families like Dylan’s with your help. Once again, thank you ever so much for raising money for us; we truly would not be here without your help.
